日本人の人口は減少を続けており、日本企業は、国内市場の縮小、国外からの人材確保の観点から、グローバル化が求められてきている。

楽天やユニクロは、社内公用語に英語を採用することで、上記の課題に対応しようとしている。

多国籍企業と地元企業

上記の課題が存在することを踏まえると、多国籍企業で個人のキャリアをグローバル化することは個人の生存戦略として有効である。

一方、国内企業でキャリアを積むことで、日本の発展に貢献できるという側面もある。

多国籍企業と地元企業、どちらのキャリアを選択するかどうかは、個人のライフスタイルや価値観によるため一概に優劣は存在しない。

日本型雇用

日本企業 (地元企業) に特有の雇用形態が存在する。企業にグローバル化が求められてきている中、年功序列型の賃金が今後保証されるとは限らない。

多国籍企業への課税

製造業を中心とした時代の国際課税の制度は、グーグルやアマゾンといった多国籍企業への課税としては十分ではなかった。

多国籍企業は主に米国企業であり、これまでは米国の反対が強かったが、
コロナ禍で米国でも税収を増やしたいという動機が出てきたため、米国の合意もあり、
デジタル課税、法人税の最低税率について、2021年に各国が大枠合意した。

多国籍企業が地元のビジネスを破壊することがある。課税が必要。

I would rather work for a multinational corporation than a local business.
I have two reasons to support my opinion.

Firstly, the Japanese population is still declining, and Japanese companies are increasingly required to globalize from the perspective of shrinking domestic markets and securing human resources from outside of Japan.
For example, Rakuten and the UNIQLO of Fast Retailing are attempting to address the above issues by making English as the official language of the company.
As for individuals, given the above challenges, globalizing their careers in a multinational corporation is a viable survival strategy.

Secondly, local Japanese companies have unique employment systems.
For example, it was common for people to work for the same company for their entire lives, which is called lifetime employment.
However, in general, sustaining this is a serious burden for companies.
Actually, during the recent coronavirus pandemic, many companies went bankrupt.
The chairman of Toyota also stated that it has become difficult to maintain such system.
Also, with the lifetime employment system, many unmotivated employees can stay, which leads to less competitiveness.
That's why, recently, Japanese companies began to adopt more western systems like Job-based employment.
If lifetime employment and seniority-based wages are not guaranteed in the future, it is better to build a career in a multinational company with the expectation of changing jobs.

In conclusion, for the above two reasons, I would rather work for a multinational corporation than a local business.
