I think that building more roads won't be the solution to Japan's growing traffic problems.
I have two reasons to support my opinion.

Firstly, the traffic problems in Japan are actually only occurring in limited areas.
For example, the overall population of Japan is decreasing, but the population of Tokyo is increasing.
It would be better to prevent the population from concentrating in one place, rather than increasing the number of roads.
With the promotion of remote work due to the influence of COVID-19, it is now possible to work from the countryside.

Secondly, in general, it is known that increasing the number of roads will not solve the problem,
as it will only lead to an increase in users due to induced demand.
A solution is needed from a different perspective.

For example, congestion pricing, which will be introduced in New York City in 2024, or the promotion of public transportation such as buses and trains can help to alleviate rush hour traffic and congestion.

Alternatively, it is also possible to solve the problem through technology.
For example, Google Maps navigation information can help to alleviate traffic congestion.
Also, Elon Musk's Boring Company is trying to solve the problem by digging 3D tunnels underground.

In conclusion, I am of the opinion that building more roads won't be the solution to Japan's growing traffic problems.
